Frequently Asked questions

During your evaluation, we will talk about what is bothering you and what your goals are for physical therapy. From there, I will perform tests to determine what is causing your pain or limiting your function and how I can best help you. Once we have made a plan, the treatment will begin! This will likely consist of some form of manual therapy as well as movement and rehabilitative exercises that you will be given to perform on a regular basis at home.

There is no dress code for your session but you should wear something that you are comfortable moving in. It is helpful to have clothes that allow you to show the body part we are treating but we can always work around this if necessary. If you are seeing the therapist for pelvic floor treatment and need an internal exam, the therapist will give you time/space to remove necessary clothing and will provide appropriate draping so you feel comfortable throughout the exam and treatment.

No! Research is showing that patients do better when they get into conservative treatment (such as physical therapy) for musculoskeletal issues faster. Doctors of Physical Therapy are the experts in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain so no need to take time out of your schedule or pay an unnecessary copay to see your physician only to be sent to PT – come to us first! We will keep your physician notified on your treatment as needed and are educated in identifying red flags that may indicate more serious pathology and require more testing by a primary care doctor or specialist.
