Anyone else at the “beached whale” stage of pregnancy? No, I’m not making a dig on my pregnancy weight gain. I am extremely proud of the weight my body has put on during this pregnancy to adapt and accommodate the needs of two growing babies. Rather, I am referring to that stage of pregnancy where all of a sudden you try to sit up and bed and your body just. doesn’t. go. anywhere.
This is normal. Our shape has changed. Our mobility has changed. Our abdominals are trying to work in a separated, stretched, and weakened state. But how do we make it better?! 😩
You guys…I’m here to blow your mind. There is a secret and I’m about to share it! 🤯
Log Rolling…yes, the secret is the good old log roll. If you want to feel less like a marine creature stuck on land when you get up to pee in the night or work up the courage to get out of bed in the morning, you must learn the art of log rolling.
The log roll simply requires you to move your body as a whole rather than parts. First you roll to your side moving shoulders and hips simultaneously before allowing your legs to hang off the side of the bed while you use your arms to help push your body up as one unit.
This simple technique can be life-changing during late pregnancy and is a MUST during recovery from c-section or vaginal delivery with a weakened core.
