3 Minute Movement Break

EXERCISE OF THE WEEK: 3 Minute Movement Break

Do you feel stiff and tired from sitting in front of a computer all day? Well then, this exercise of the week is for you! The 3 minute movement break is a series of exercises meant to be performed once an hour to get your blood flowing, your muscles and joints moving, and your mind re-focused. This exercise is perfect for anyone who sits at a computer or desk most of the day or stands statically for long periods of time, or even for those who have been stuck on the floor reading books and playing with toys for most of the morning.

INSTRUCTIONS: Stand up and set a timer for 3 minutes. Perform the appropriate amount of repetitions for each exercise then move on to the next exercise. If you finish the last exercise, then start over again until your timer goes off.

  • 20 Heel Raises
  • 20 Alternating High Knee Marches with Opposite Arm Raise
  • 20 Alternating Booty Kicks with Both Arm W Retractions
  • 10 Prisoner Squats

The 3 Minute Exercise Break requires NO equipment and takes minimal time out of your day. Remember you can always change out exercises to incorporate a different movement or muscle group, and you can always increase the time depending on how long of a break you need!

Try out the 3 Minute Exercise Break at work, at home, or while working from home and enjoy the boost of energy, focus, and mobility it provides!
