Introductions

Hi! I am Dr. Chelsea Garvin, owner and Doctor of Physical Therapy at Life Changes Physical Therapy – the newest outpatient therapy provider in North Texas. Because the rehabilitation process creates an intimate relationship between the provider and the client, I think its only right that you get an idea of who I am before choosing me as your therapist. I have been a licensed physical therapist for 4 years and have spent this time practicing in outpatient clinics in multiple states. During this time, I have pursued educational opportunities to enhance and refine my manual therapy skills and studied hard to achieve my Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Certification in 2019. My continuous pursuit for knowledge allows me to treat patients effectively, but it is my passion for physical therapy that allows my clients to achieve their desired results and to continue to return in the future.

Opening my own physical therapy clinic has been a dream of mine for many years, but the vision for Life Changes Physical Therapy came about more recently. See, the past few years have been full of change and life transitions for me. I got married, moved states, started a new job, started multiple new exercise routines, got pregnant, had my first child, dealt with the coronavirus crisis, and the list goes on. Now I don’t know about you, but change can be difficult for me to handle. As a physical therapist, I was especially aware of the changes in my body, physical activity level, and most of all, functional ability during these transitions. During pregnancy and post-partum, I became hyper-aware of the lack of confidence I had in my body to function normally which led me on a goose chase for the best information on what activities I could/could not do and how to best do them. It was during this time that I realized how much faulty information is out there for women in these vulnerable stages of life, and it sparked a desire in me to want to make a change.

Now pregnancy/post-partum is a big life transition, both physically and mentally, but as I looked around I noticed MANY people struggling to maintain confidence and function during their own life transitions. Whether it was my friends trying to get back into a workout routine after an injury or extended time off of training, or my own mother trying to navigate exercise and functionality with her grandchildren while struggling with the onset of arthritis. I realized I was in a unique position to help these people that are going through life transitions causing a struggle with pain, injury, lack of stability, lack of function, and lack of confidence.

My goal for Life Changes Physical Therapy is to be a source of knowledge and symptom relief for people dealing with these challenges in their lives. I believe in holistic and individualized treatment meaning I want to hear your story, address your mental and physical barriers, and get you back to the level of function YOU want to be at with confidence. Whether its pain, weakness, tightness, or fear that limits you from functioning at your highest level, I can help you achieve your goals. Contact Life Changes Physical Therapy and let me be your guide to better health, better function, and better quality of life!
