Please help me in welcoming Dr. Sarah Gillen to the Life Changes Physical Therapy team!
Sarah obtained her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from TWU in 2011 and has enjoyed a vibrant career ever since with her primary interests and passions being pelvic health including pelvic floor recovery and wellness for patients throughout all of life’s stages!
Sarah has worked in both outpatient clinics and hospital settings managing simple to complex pelvic health conditions, post-op care, and care of pregnant and postpartum women! Through her physical therapy treatment, Sarah’s goal is to help women to achieve control and comfort in order to meet the unique family and community needs placed before them.
She is often heard saying, “There is no greater physiologic change that someone can undergo than pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum! It is essential that women be provided necessary education and care before, during, and after pregnancies for injury prevention, prolapse care, and personalized treatments to help them recover so they can confidently care for their loved ones.”
Dr. Gillen is experienced in treating:
- Urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, urinary hesitancy
- Bowel incontinence, constipation
- Prenatal pelvic girdle pain
- Postpartum wellness care and core restoration
- Painful intercourse
- Pain disorders: vulvodynia, vaginismus, interstitial cystitis, pudendal neuralgia
- Post-op care following urogenital, gynecologic, and colorectal surgeries
- Back pain, neck pain, and joint pains
- And many other orthopedic conditions!
When not working with patients, Sarah enjoys spending time cheering at her daughter’s volleyball games as well as her son’s football, baseball, basketball, or various sport-of-the-month games! Sarah and husband, David, are often seen jogging and hiking along the trails of Lake Grapevine enjoying nature and opportunities to unwind with their boxer dog, Han Solo, beside them.
